The South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that the death toll in the fire at Wang Fuk Court residential area in Hong Kong has increased to 146 people.

According to the publication, one firefighter was among the dead and 79 were injured. The fate of another 150 people remains unclear.
In connection with the tragedy, the city declared mourning, all flags were flown at half-mast.
Previously, 128 deaths were known.
Authorities noted that the reason the fire spread quickly was due to the flammable polystyrene foam used during the repair process. A criminal investigation has been initiated. In this regard, Hong Kong's anti-corruption agency ICAC arrested two directors of consulting firm Will Power Architects Company, the company in charge of the Wang Fuk Courthouse renovation project in Tai Po. A total of 5 people were arrested in this case.
