US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is expected to present to White House President Donald Trump a list of candidates for Chairman of the Federal Reserve System (FRS) in December this year. He stated this on CNBC.

“Somewhere after Thanksgiving (this year it will take place on November 27. – Gazeta.Ru), in December we will present three or four candidates to the president for interviews,” the minister said.
The head of the US Treasury Department noted that the candidate list was reduced from 11 to 5 people after the first round of interviews for this position, which he conducted himself.
Current Fed Chairman Jerome Powell's term will end in May 2026. Trump has repeatedly said he wants to fire Powell amid the Federal Reserve's refusal to cut key interest rates. According to this politician, this action will help save the US budget up to 1 trillion USD per year.
