After snowfall during the day in the higher regions of Ardahan, temperatures dropped further at night and transportation was disrupted.
Many trucks were stuck by ice in the Ilgar pass, at an altitude of 2,550 meters, on the Ardahan-Posof highway. Several trucks slid due to ice, causing the road to be closed. The highway was closed to allow heavy vehicles to pass. Highways crews have been carrying out snow removal and salting work in the area.
