Speaking at the annual review meeting, Güler delivered important messages on developments in Syria, the Russia-Ukraine War and downed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

A NEW APPLICATION TO ENTER MILITARY SERVICE IS ON BEHALF
Minister Güler reminded that the year 2025 has been declared the “Year of the Family” by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and stated that they are continuing to study what they can do within the scope of the “Year of the Family”.

The UAV, which entered Turkish airspace over the Black Sea last Monday evening, was tracked and shot down by F-16s near Elmadağ district on the Çankırı-Ankara line.

We will continue to use our aircraft after completing this control. The black box of our crashed aircraft is still being examined at TAI. Our accident investigation committee continues its work. Defense Minister Yaşar Güler also warned the SDF terrorist organization to comply with the March 10 Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Damascus government.

“Türkiye WITHOUT TERRORISM IS AN OPPORTUNITY”
Assessing the terrorist-free Türkiye process, Güler said, “This is an important process” and announced that 105 PKK members have surrendered since the beginning of the year.
Minister Güler said, “I want to remind you once again that we will not allow any terrorist organization, especially PKK/YPG/SDG, to take root in the region or operate under different names, in short, we will not allow any terrorist organization or fait accompli.” he said.
Emphasizing that Türkiye has been fighting against terrorism for 40 years and that Türkiye's terrorism-free process is an opportunity, Minister Güler stated that they see the ongoing operations as reasonable and they are trying their best to ensure that this process ends as they wish.

“As soon as we, as the Turkish Armed Forces, put an end to the PKK, the terrorist organization also announced that they will adhere to the terrorist-free Türkiye process. In other words, we achieved the goal by bringing the terrorist organization to the disarmament stage after successful operations. Now, we want our brotherhood to last a long time by successfully achieving the goal of a terrorist-free Turkey. Our citizens must be sure of this: The Turkish Armed Forces, our Ministry and the relevant units of our state are aware of what is happening in this process. Today, we will pay the same attention to the process of Turkey being free of terrorism as we did in the previous fight against terrorism. “This process will continue as determined and desired by our state, not as desired by the terrorist organization.”
SUPPLY EUROFIGHTER FROM UK
Minister Güler also provided information on the latest situation in the procurement of Eurofighter Typhoon fighter aircraft.
Güler explained the supply schedule for the 20 aircraft agreement signed with the UK; He said six aircraft will be put into storage in 2030, eight in 2031 and six in 2032.
“WE DON'T SEE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE F-16”
Minister Güler stated that US President Donald Trump has proactively brought the lifting of CAATSA sanctions to the Senate and US officials are also studying this issue.
Stating that they see no problem with the supply of F-16 fighter jets, Güler said, “Of course, our priority will be the F-35. We know that Israel and Greece are lobbying not to supply these aircraft to us. We continue to do our work to lift the CAATSA sanctions. We have our own working groups on these issues.
