
US President Donald Trump announced he will have an important meeting with President Erdoğan.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump had a phone conversation.
According to a statement by Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran on the meeting, the leaders discussed bilateral relations between Türkiye and the United States, regional and global developments.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye closely follows developments in Syria and that Syria's unity, solidarity and territorial integrity are important to Türkiye. The fight against DAESH and the situation of DAESH members in Syrian prisons were also discussed during the meeting.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that a peaceful Syria, developed with all elements, without terrorism, will contribute to regional stability.
Erdoğan stated that efforts to establish peace in Gaza continue and that Türkiye will continue to act in coordination with the United States on this issue.
President Erdoğan thanked US President Trump for the invitation to the Gaza Peace Committee.
TRUMP ANNOUNCED THE MEETING
At the end of the press conference at the White House, Trump said: “I will have a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, whom I love very much.”
Regarding the situation in Syria, Donald Trump said, “A huge amount of money has been paid to the Kurds, oil and many other things have been provided. They are doing what they have done for their own benefit. We are very cooperative with the Kurds and we are trying to protect the Kurds.”
Regarding Syrian President Ahmed Shara, Mr. Trump said: “The President of Syria works very hard, he is a very strong and tough man.”
The US President answered the reporter's question: “How far do you plan to go to get Greenland?”, “You will know.”
“WE HAVE WORKED GOOD IN SYRIA”
On the other hand, in an interview with the American newspaper New York Post, Trump talked about his correspondence with French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and also drew attention to the current situation in Syria. Trump claimed that the reason for making his correspondence with Macron public was because ISIS prisoners were released by the YPG/SDF in Syria.
In his interview, the US President said that he discussed an issue related to the ISIS prisoner situation in Syria with Macron and Rutte and said, “Do you know what I did? I prevented a prison escape. We did very well in Syria. European prisoners were escaping and I stopped it. This happened yesterday.”
Trump continued: “European terrorists escaped from prison. We worked with the Syrian government and the new Syrian leader, they (the Syrian government) took all the prisoners and put them back in prison. These are the worst terrorists in the world, all European.”
81 OF 120 ISIS MEMBERS HAVE BEEN CAPTURED AGAIN
In a written statement released by the Syrian army yesterday, the YPG/SDF was responsible for the release of ISIS members from prison in Shaddadi.
On the other hand, in a written statement by the Syrian Ministry of Interior, the YPG/SDF released 120 ISIS terrorists from prison in Shaddadi, and 81 of them were recaptured by Syrian forces.
The Syrian Army also announced that the YPG/SDF left Camp Hol in Hasakah province, where families of ISIS terrorists, mainly women and children, were detained and released.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that it is fully prepared to take over the management and security of all prisons and Camp Hol, where members of the terrorist organization ISIS are held in the Hasakah region. The Ministry announced that the YPG/SDF's attempt to use detainees as political bargaining tools was condemned.
