The dry cargo ship that suffered engine failure in the Dardanelles has been rescued and anchored in a safe area.
The 119 meter long, Panama-flagged dry cargo ship 'Yangze Venus', traveling from Karabiga to Italy, experienced engine failure off the coast of Şarköy, 27 miles from Gallipoli, while passing through the Dardanelles.
After the captain reported the situation to the Directorate of Dardanelles Ship Traffic Services via radio, the tugboat 'Kurtarma-19' under the Directorate of Coastal Safety (KEGM) was dispatched to the area.
Other ships passing through the strait have also been informed of the incident. The ship was towed onto a tugboat, escorted by a pilot, and anchored safely at Karabiga Anchorage.
