The 2025 operations report of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) has been shared with the public. MİT Chairman İbrahim Kalın delivered important messages in his introductory article on a variety of topics, from the Terror-Free Türkiye Process to Syria and Gaza.
In his bold article, he emphasized that MİT, within the framework of the tasks and powers stipulated in the State Intelligence Service and National Intelligence Organization Law No. 2937, continues to resolutely carry out its tasks and activities aimed at eliminating current and possible domestic and foreign threats to the existence, independence, integrity, security, constitutional order and all elements constituting the national strength of the Republic Türkiye.
“The impact of uncertainty and chaos is being felt around the world”
Declaring that 2025, under the shadow of war and conflict, will be a year in which global norms and values are destroyed, the current international order is inadequate to resolve the crisis, strategic balance is redefined, geo-economic balance changes rapidly and risks brought by technological developments increase exponentially, Kalın said that in the process, traditional security threats are increasingly of a hybrid nature and the impact of instability stability and chaos became apparent throughout the world.
Kalın stated that although a temporary 60-day ceasefire was achieved in Gaza with the support of mediators mid-year, humanitarian devastation in the region has deepened due to the inability to establish lasting peace, noting that Israel's expansion of attacks against Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Iran continues to make the balance in the Middle East fragile.
RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR
İbrahim Kalın continued as follows:
“At the same time, the Russia-Ukraine war has reached an impasse between Western military support and Russia's strategy of industrial attrition, and while the sides are stuck between territorial concessions and security guarantees at the negotiating table, the dynamics of the war have evolved into nuclear confrontations and the dominance of autonomous weapons systems.”
US-CHINA COMPETITION
“At the economic and geopolitical level, the US-China rivalry has reinforced the character of the 'new cold war' with aggressive tariffs and technological moves made by the US. While the trade war has reshaped global supply chains, the consequences of the rivalry have been felt directly on the African continent.
The African continent, which is grappling with political instability due to coup attempts and internal conflicts, continues to be one of the most important geopolitical chessboards in 2025, where global powers compete for both raw materials and spheres of influence.
“Türkiye EXPERIENCES THE ‘BALANCED’ PHASE IN 2025”
Emphasizing that Türkiye will experience a period of strategic “balancing and consolidation” in both foreign policy and internal security in 2025, at a historic crossroads where the global balance of power is redefined, Kalın continued his words as follows:
“Our country, once again demonstrating its diplomatic capacity as an effective mediator in regional crises such as Gaza and Ukraine, has deepened the process of 'Türkiye without terrorism', which is the most important internal security and social peace goal in the 'Turkish Century' vision.
