The Countering Disinformation Center has denied claims that “Canada has begun to use CHP membership as a reason to accept immigrants.”
The Directorate General of Communications' (DMM) Counter-Disinformation Center stated that allegations that “Canada has begun to consider CHP membership as a reason to accept immigration or refugee applications” do not reflect the truth.
In a statement released on DMM's NSosyal account, it was stated that allegations shared on several news outlets and social media accounts that “Canada has begun to consider CHP membership as a reason to accept immigration or refugee applications” do not reflect the truth and contain false information.
“It was intended to deceive the public”
The declaration includes the following statements:
“In the country reports or information notes published by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs on Türkiye, there is no element to suggest that any political party in Türkiye is under pressure. Therefore, membership of a political party in Türkiye is not a criterion in an immigration or refugee application. The Canadian Embassy also denies the allegations in question and clearly states that membership of any Turkish political party in law or Canada's immigration policy should not be considered a sufficient reason to obtain refugee status or asylum. False content intended to mislead should not be relied upon, and information provided by official sources must be considered.”
