
Interpol has issued a red notice for Syrian citizen Mohammad Nizar Arnabeh, who is on trial for allegedly killing his Russian girlfriend Anastasia Emelianova.
Syrian national Mohammad Nizar Arnabeh (29 years old), suspect in the murder of Russian citizen Anastasia Emelianova (33 years old), is wanted under a red warrant in Erzurum.
Anastasia Emelianova, who came to Türkiye after the Ukrainian-Russian War and settled in Erzurum, started working as an IT employee at work.
Emelianova met Mohammad Nizar Arnabeh, a Syrian citizen who worked as a barista in a coffee shop, through social networks. Emelianova and Arnabeh became friends and began to see each other regularly.
On September 20, 2023, an argument broke out between Anastasia Emelianova and Mohammad Nizar Arnabeh in the apartment on the top floor of a 4-story apartment building on Cengiz Topel Street, Ömer Nasuhi Bilmen District, Yakutiye District. A few hours after the argument, which was also heard by the residents of the apartment, Arnabeh went to his downstairs neighbor, told him that Emelianova was injured and asked for help.
After notifying Emergency Switchboard 112, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. The teams determined that Anastasia Emelianova died of blood loss.
ARREST
Mohammad Nizar Arnabeh, who was detained after the incident, was arrested.
Mohammad Nizar Arnabeh, who was tried at Erzurum Supreme Criminal Court No. 1 with a request for an aggravated life sentence for “intentionally killing women”, was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
The family's lawyer Anastasia Emelianova appealed the court's acquittal. The Erzurum Regional Court of Justice annulled the local court's acquittal on the merits.
HE DID NOT ATTEND ALL 3 PARTS OF THE HEARING
Mohammad Nizar Arnabeh, whose trial began again at the Erzurum No. 1 Supreme Criminal Court following the decision to quash the appeal, did not attend all three hearings.
The family of Anastasia Emelianova has applied for a red notice regarding Mohammad Nizar Arnabeh, who is believed to have fled to Syria via Antalya.
