Tarık Ediz Özkanlı, an 8-year-old elementary school student in Sakarya's Akyazı district, died at the hospital where he was treated for suspected meningitis.
Tarık Ediz Özkanlı, an elementary school student in Akyazı district, complained of pain in his arm at school last Monday and his family was informed and he was taken to the hospital. During the initial evaluation performed at the hospital, the student was treated for suspected meningitis. Tarık Ediz Özkanlı, whose condition worsened, was taken to the intensive care unit in the morning. Özkanlı lost his life despite all medical interventions.
The Provincial Health Directorate, under the coordination of Governor Sakarya, contacted parents of students who were in the same class and used the same services as the deceased student, for prevention purposes, to the emergency room and to initiate preventive treatments.
Tarık Ediz Özkanlı was buried at Akyazı Alağaç Neighborhood Cemetery after a funeral prayer performed after the afternoon prayer.
