Snowfall and icing disrupted traffic in the Istanbul direction of the Mount Bolu section of the D-100 highway. After shoveling snow and salting, the road was reopened for heavy vehicles to pass through.
Snow continued to fall heavily on the Mount Bolu crossing of the D-100 highway, one of the routes providing transportation services between Istanbul and Ankara. In areas where snow depths exceed 30 cm, trucks, vans and tankers cause traffic disruption.
Traffic teams of the Bolu Provincial Police Department carried out an application in the Elmalık area of the D-100 highway to prevent the Istanbul direction from being closed to traffic. In fact, tankers, trucks and lorries are not allowed to travel towards Istanbul in the Bolu Mountain section. Heavy vehicles were guided to parking areas in the city center from Elmalık passage.
Highway crews shovel snow and salt the highways. After crews worked, traffic flow returned to normal.
Traffic crews have asked drivers who will use the Mount Bolu stretch to wedge and tow their vehicles, and that drivers without winter tires will be kept off the road.
