President Erdoğan spoke to farmers at an iftar program at the Haliç Congress Center.
Delivering the message that agriculture in Türkiye has not and will never end, Erdoğan also said that the fight against price gouging and food fraud will continue. “There will be no tolerance for those who steal bread from people's tables,” he said.
Erdogan, who also announced that they have started the project 'Abundance in rural areas, support for sheep and sheep', gave good news that with this project, 150 thousand sheep and goats will be given to breeders under favorable conditions in the first phase.
“We will deliver the first animals this year,” Erdoğan said, adding, “Our producers will be able to use interest-free loans from Ziraat Bank to finance the project. These loans have a grace period of up to 2 years and maturity options of up to 7 years.”
Highlights of Erdoğan's statement:
“I want to express my gratitude to our farmer brothers. May God bless you all for supporting the development of our country. May God not miss you. It was my farmer brother who was at the forefront of defending his homeland during the dangerous coup on July 15. Our farmers supported this country they called 'sick' to once again step onto the stage of history.
We support them as much as the farmers support us. Our government has never left our manufacturers alone. The amount we allocate directly and indirectly to agriculture in 2026 is exactly 939 billion lira. We will support our manufacturers with a huge amount of up to 1 trillion lira. Türkiye's agricultural revenue ranks first in Europe. We have had a foreign trade surplus of $117 billion in the agricultural sector over the past 23 years. We are one of the top 10 countries for seeds. Türkiye will break many records in the agricultural sector.
Agriculture in Türkiye is not over, it will never end. Not only industry realities, but also international organizations refute the claim that 'Agriculture in Türkiye is over', which the opposition has repeated. As long as Recep Tayyip Erdoğan remains in this country's wheelchair, the ambitions of those arrogant monuments pointing fingers at the nation will continue to dog them.
Access to safe food is our top priority. We immediately exposed the scammers.
Our fight against price gouging continues. There will be no tolerance for those who steal bread from people's tables.
Herbal support payments begin. We will reflect that in farmers' accounts starting March 6.
We are starting the project 'Abundance in rural areas, supporting small and small livestock'. In the first phase of the project, we will provide 150 thousand sheep to breeders under favorable conditions. We will deliver the first animals this year. I invite all young and female producers who want to participate in small-scale livestock farming to apply for this project.
Our manufacturers will be able to use interest-free loans from Ziraat Bank to finance the project. These loans have a grace period of up to 2 years and a maturity period of up to 7 years.
“We will also be responsible for covering one year's insurance costs for the sheep purchased by our producers who benefit from the project.”
