Police teams inspecting the Bakırköy Coastal Road issued a “stop” warning to the vehicle they suspected. The driver of the vehicle did not heed the warning and started to run away after giving the knife to the police. A chase then broke out between the police team and the suspect. During the pursuit along the coastal road, the suspect crashed into a police car with the vehicle he was driving, causing damage to the vehicle. After the chase, police took precautions by closing Kennedy Street to traffic and impounding the suspect's car. Police teams fired warning shots at the suspect, who was still trying to escape in his vehicle. Despite this, the police opened fire, targeting the suspect who continued to attempt to escape. The suspect who was injured by being shot was taken to the hospital by the medical team called to the scene. The road closed due to the pursuit was opened to traffic after the vehicles were withdrawn.
