
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dibeybe and Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council Muhammed Yunus al-Menfi. During the meetings, Erdoğan expressed his condolences to the Libyan military delegation that died in the plane crash in Haymana, Ankara.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity of Libya, Abdulhamid Dibeybe.
The statement was issued by Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed his sadness and condolences over the death of Libya's Chief of General Staff, General Muhammed Ali Al-Haddad, and his entourage due to the crash of the plane carrying them.
Erdoğan also had a telephone conversation with Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council Muhammed Yunus al-Menfi.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed his condolences to Menfi over the plane crash and stated that the work carried out in the wreckage area continued without interruption.
Erdoğan emphasized that the relationship between the two friendly and brotherly countries is extremely strong, and stated that Türkiye will continue to provide all necessary support to Libya.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The jet of the Libyan General Staff and his military delegation paying an official visit to Ankara took off on its return journey and crashed into mountainous terrain in Haymana district yesterday.
Eight people, including the Chief of the Libyan General Staff and the Commander of the ground forces, including five soldiers, were killed in the accident.
After about 2 and a half hours of work, the plane's wreckage was found 2 km south of the village of Haymana Kesikkavak.

The plane's voice recorder and black box were also found. It was also reported that the debris was spread over an area of 3 km.
