A new wave of cold weather and rain from the Balkans entered the country via Thrace. Heavy rain and snow negatively affect daily life in many areas.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) announced that the temperature will drop by 2-4 degrees to the level of snow with a cold wave expected to hit the Marmara Region this morning.
In a statement, AKOM said spring temperatures, which ranged between 14-18 degrees last week, dropped to 7 degrees due to changes in the weather system. It was reported that the rainfall is expected to taper off at night and is expected to start taking effect again in the morning.

A snow warning was also issued in the statement: “With a cold front expected to enter our region from Monday morning, temperatures will drop by 2-4 degrees and fall to snow level; it is predicted that precipitation may appear in the form of sleet and sometimes snow in the Western regions, especially in Silivri, Çatalca, Arnavutköy, Büyükçekmece and Başakşehir. The statement said winds will strengthen from northerly directions starting in the evening and blow at a speed of 40-75 km per hour as a storm at intervals and strong showers are expected in many places until the night.
