She came to Türkiye from Switzerland to have plastic surgery and never returned.
Aida Alexander Oliviera, 24 years old, died after liposuction surgery.
The grieving family wants those responsible for their daughter's suspicious death to be held accountable before the judiciary.
COME TO ISTANBUL FOR ACTIVITY
Portuguese Oliviera, living in Switzerland, contacted a doctor through a social media advertisement in 2024. He went to Istanbul for surgery.
The young girl had liposuction and hip fat injections at a clinic in Şişli.
“Some people are guilty and must be punished.”
Oliviera was taken to the hospital but could not be saved. His family is very saddened by this sad news.
Friatas Riberio, father of the dead woman, said: “They killed our only daughter, Aida. There is evidence and documents confirming this. We want justice for our daughter. Someone is guilty and must be punished.” he said.
CLAIM: “There are irregularities in the STATEMENT”
After her death on March 7, 2024, Aida's body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.
His cousin went to Istanbul for a medical examination. Allegedly, there were irregularities during the testimony process due to the intervention of the doctor who performed the surgery.
Instead of a sworn interpreter, someone recommended by a doctor served as interpreter for Oliviera's cousin.
Lawyer Enes Osman Taşer said, “He sent an unsworn interpreter, that is, his employee, to the police station and recorded the statement 'I do not complain' in his statement. When we conveyed this to the Portuguese family, they were shocked.” he said.
THE DOCTOR WAS FOUND AT ERROR
The Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into the suspicious death.
During the examination conducted by the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the doctor who performed the surgery was found to have made an error.
In the prepared report, the cause of Aida's death was stated as internal bleeding due to ruptured blood vessels after plastic surgery and pulmonary embolism due to blood clots.
THE FAMILY IS WAITING FOR THE TRIAL TO BEGIN
Lawyer Fatih Bulut said: “Two years have passed since the death, the trial has not yet started. They have not had a chance to present themselves in court. They are their only child, they are very sad about this.” While the family's other lawyer, Taşer, said, “Since the defendant is a doctor, permission must be obtained from the Ministry of Health to which he belongs. This process took a year. A new investigator was appointed yesterday.” he said.
The family of a young girl who was a victim of cosmetic surgery wants the trial for their daughter's death to begin as soon as possible.
