
Japanese Prime Minister Takaiçi Sanae announced that they plan to submit a supplementary budget proposal to local governments to combat the increasing number of bear attacks in the country.
The Japanese government, which has decided to send soldiers to Akita prefecture to combat the recent increase in bear attacks, is preparing to implement new measures.
According to The Japan Times, Japanese Prime Minister Takaiçi Sanae, in a speech at the National Assembly Budget Committee, said the supplementary budget proposal the government plans to present will also include expenditures to help local governments fight bear attacks. Takaiçi announced that it will expand support to local authorities, including financial support to cover the salaries of bear hunters.
Flights at Hanamaki airport, located in Iwate prefecture in northeastern Japan, were briefly stopped after a bear entered the runway. The government announced on October 31 that it plans to recruit newly licensed hunters to combat bear attacks.
