Russia's Energia rocket and space corporation has been granted a patent for a space system that generates artificial gravity (IST). report this.

The system consists of an axial module with stationary and rotating components connected by a sealed movable joint, as well as four habitable modules, rotating media and power source. The astronaut modules are connected to the axial module through docking components. Thanks to rotation, the system creates an overload of about 0.5 g, which is half the gravity on Earth.
“The space system with IST according to this invention ensures reliability and safety of the crew thanks to the location of a sealed cellular connection,” the inventors said.
The connection consists of rotating elements and sealing rings arranged sequentially, their design ensures continuous operation of the station in case of failure of one of the elements of the sealing unit.
