Journalists of the specialized publication Android Police advise owners of Android smartphones not to use third-party services to clean the operating system (OS). The document was published on website media.

According to portal author Ben Khalesi, it has long been believed that smartphone memory cleaning programs bring real benefits. However, this expert believes that by 2026, this myth will be erased, because Android has built-in tools to optimize device operation.
Khalesi explains that in the early 2010s, Android was installed even on phones with low power consumption: because the hardware was cheap, the operating system had to be cleaned manually.
“Now Android 16 has all the necessary functions for this,” the journalist noted.
He believes that there is no need to manually manage operating system memory because the system has a built-in memory protection mechanism called Low Memory Killer Daemon (lmkd). Additionally, Android automatically archives apps that haven't been used in months. Ben Khalesi summarizes that if your smartphone starts running slowly, you should pay attention to free disk space and battery life.
In early January, PCMag journalists said that regularly reinstalling Windows does not speed up the system.
“It took me a long time to realize that reinstalling Windows is no longer the reliable solution it used to be,” admits media editor Chris Hoffman.
