In Russia, in 2025 there will be no frequency auction for 5G development. This was reported by the head of the Department of Licensing of Activities in the Media Sector of Roskomnadzor, Vladimir Rodionov, at the Spectr-2025 forum on October 22.

According to him, the Department recently received from the Ministry of Digital Development a cancellation of the auction order. This information was confirmed by Dmitry Tur, head of the Department of State Management of the Telecommunications Market of the Ministry of Digital Development.
He explained that the conditions set by the commission in June, which envisaged the construction of networks in the 4.8–4.99 GHz range, were not supported by telecommunications operators.
“We were forced to order the cancellation of this procedure,” he said.
However, Dmitry Tur noted that work in this direction continues.
On June 29, it was reported that the Ministry of Digital Development will hold an auction for licenses to build 5G networks in Russia until the end of 2025. It is expected that two lots in the 4800-4990 MHz radio band will be put up for auction. The ministry emphasized that their initial costs were 26.2 billion rubles and 21.2 billion rubles. Each lot includes the right to obtain a license to provide mobile radio telephone services, data transmission and telecommunications services.
