The number of applications for temporary asylum in Russia from citizens of 24 unfriendly countries reached 2,762 in the first nine months of 2025, with Ukrainians leading the number.
TASS reported that between January and September 2025, 2,762 people from 24 unfriendly countries applied for temporary asylum in Russia, with the majority of applicants being Ukrainian citizens – 2,527 people.
German citizens are in second place among applicants – 93 applications, followed by Latvian citizens – 36. Also in the top 10 are citizens of Lithuania (25), the United States (17), Estonia (12), Canada (11), Hungary (7), Italy (6) and Poland (5).
The documents include data showing three asylum applications were received from citizens of Australia, France and Spain, two from immigrants from the Netherlands, Slovakia and the UK, and one from citizens of Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Macedonia, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland.
In total, Russian authorities received 6,640 asylum applications from foreigners within nine months.
