SYDNEY, October 26. /TASS/. More than 90,000 residents of the eastern Australian states of Queensland and Victoria were without power due to severe thunderstorms, accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain. ABC television channel reported this news.
In Queensland, according to local power grid company Energex, 65 thousand customers were temporarily without power. In some areas of the state, wind speeds exceeded 25 m/s and hail reached 5 cm in size. Emergency services and electrical engineers began to eliminate the consequences of bad weather.
In the state of Victoria, about 25 thousand people are without electricity. We are mainly talking about Melbourne residents. Heavy rain also caused flooding in some areas.
