Experts from Rosselkhoznadzor tracked an unusual shipment from Koltsovo airport – Bennett's kangaroo went from Yekaterinburg Zoo to Belgorod. The Ministry's press agency reported on this.
The animal moves in a special disposable cage, where a comfortable temperature is maintained. According to the supervisory authority, all transport activities take place according to regulations: veterinary records are filled out correctly and hygiene standards are observed.
Bennett's kangaroo (red-gray wallaby) is a rare rat species raised and bred in specialized nurseries in Russia. They can be found in the wild in Australia and neighboring islands. The growth of the animal reaches 1 meter and weighs up to 20 kg.
A new pet has been living in the Yekaterinburg Zoo since September – an albino wallaby named Albina, Ural Meridian news agency reported. Recently, a family of kangaroos was moved to a warm cage for the winter. Albina had completely settled into life there and was actively exploring the warm room prepared for her.
