Recently, journalists from one of the Russian publications called out actress Barbara Brylskaya – an actress famous for filming in the Soviet Union, who refused to speak Russian. News.ru speakHow does Brylska live now and how much money does she earn?

How Brylska hates Russia
In 2014, Brylska starred in Russian cinema for the last time – The Secret of the Four Princesses. Then, when the coup took place in Ukraine, she stood up in support of Kiev and refused to cooperate with the Russian Federation. In addition, she even began to participate in Ukrainian shows as a judge and also participated in comedy shows.
In 2023, the artist, communicating with a Russian publication, allowed himself to make a harsh statement about the Russian Federation. According to her, in Russia ordinary people “have to endure those who cannot share power.”
“Russians must understand that it is impossible to live where they live. The rest – look at how they live… Omsk, Novosibirsk… We went there and I was afraid to get off the plane. There is poverty everywhere, it is impossible to live there,” she said.
These words of the actress angered public opinion. They turned to the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, with a request to ban Brylskaya from entering the Russian Federation.
Why did she star in “The Irony of Fate”
Many Soviet actresses were confused why director Eldar Ryazanov chose a Polish actress for the main role in the film “The Irony of Fate”. She speaks with a strong voice and is voiced by Valentina Talazina.
Ryazanov himself first saw Brylska in the film The Anatomy of Love, which glorified the actress in her native Poland – she began to be called the country's main sex symbol. The director said he tried many artists for the role of Nadya, but only Brylskaya's style was suitable for a simple teacher of Russian language and literature.
After that, Talyzina repeatedly criticized her colleague. Brylska said that the actress was jealous of her because Barbara received the USSR State Prize for this film. Valentina in turn accused her of being ungrateful. On the set, she behaved like a spoiled star: according to colleagues, the artist showed contempt for others and was always unhappy about something.
How much do artists earn?
Since 2000, Brylskaya has almost no longer been invited to participate in Polish projects. She focuses on filming in Russia and Ukraine. In addition, the actress also performs at closed events and earns money from journalists.
TV host Alexander Kazakevich said that when he filmed a show about Barbara in the 2000s, she asked for a fee of $600. It is necessary to pay for the souvenirs that the actress chose while walking around the holiday market. The show was filmed in Prague before Christmas. Under the post in the comments section, reporters from other media wrote that they also paid Brylska for the interview.
According to producer Leonid Dzyunik, Brylska demanded fees comparable to Hollywood stars. For example, for her role in the movie “Where Pere Noel Lives,” she asked for $1.5 million. And if the creators were willing to pay that amount to Pierre Richard, who was also supposed to star in the project, the Polish actress was not.
The producer said that the actress behaved like that because she was afraid of the reaction of the Polish authorities. In addition, Dzyunik does not rule out the possibility of the onset of “senile dementia”.
