
Cold weather and snow are returning across most of the country, including Istanbul. While storms and showers will be in effect starting tomorrow, snowfall will be in effect across most of the country into the new week on Sunday. In a statement by AKOM, the temperature in Istanbul will drop by 10 degrees starting Thursday.
While most of the country entered the new year with snow and cold weather, the new week started with rising temperatures. Although the influence of the southwest winds that plagued Marmara last weekend has eased, the stormy weather is not over yet.
From tomorrow, the western part of this country will have a new round of storms. Temperatures will drop rapidly in many provinces, including Istanbul and Izmir.
Snowfall could be seen especially in the higher areas of Istanbul on Friday.
According to the weekly report of the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), cold and snowy weather will affect most of Türkiye, including Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara, in the new week.

Today, it is expected that the northern, central and western regions will be partly cloudy and very cloudy, the western Marmara and Coastal Aegean will have rain and showers, elsewhere will be partly cloudy and clear.
Occasional mist and fog along with ice and frost are expected in the central and eastern regions.
There is avalanche risk at high altitudes in areas within the Eastern Black Sea Region and in steep areas in Eastern Anatolia with high snow cover.

Today, the weather will be cloudy in all five major cities and there will be strong southwest winds in Istanbul and Bursa.
Istanbul 15 degrees, Ankara 11 degrees, Bursa 20 degrees and Antalya 19 degrees.
While showers continue in Izmir, the temperature will be 18 degrees.

In the assessment issued by AKOM, it was reported that until tomorrow there will be no severe weather conditions, except for localized light rain, and the temperature will be at 15-17 degrees. On Thursday, it was warned that temperatures would fall 8-10 degrees below winter values.

NTV Meteorology Editor Dilek Çalışkan, who made the assessment during NTV's broadcast, said that the southwest wind will strengthen on Thursday.
“Weather conditions on Thursday and Friday will challenge us.” Çalışkan said there will be very heavy rainfall in the Marmara and Aegean regions on Thursday.
Çalışkan explained that the wind speed in Istanbul can sometimes reach 80 kilometers per hour.
Dilek Çalışkan also pointed out that there is a possibility of snow on Friday. Çalışkan said that there will be snowfall in the Inner Aegean, Western Black Sea, Central Anatolia and the east, adding, “There is a possibility of snowfall in some areas of Istanbul.” he said.
