According to data from the General Department of Meteorology (MGM), the cold spell affecting most of the country will continue to affect the new week. Air temperatures will continue to drop significantly and heavy snowfall, already reaching 1 meter in some regions, will spread almost throughout the country, with the exception of the Aegean coast and the western Mediterranean.

Istanbul, where the effects of the cold snap could be felt, is expected to see the first snow of the season in the new week. The snowfall that reached Kocaeli on the last day of the year, will affect Istanbul on Thursday, the first day of 2026.

Today, precipitation is expected with heavy snow in the western Black Sea region, southeast of eastern Anatolia, Rize, Ağrı, Iğdır, Muş, Batman, Mardin and surrounding Siirt as well as the surrounding Artvin coast.
YELLOW AND ORANGE ALARM IN 15 CITIES
MGM; Bolu, Düzce, Zonguldak, Bartın, Karabük, Sinop, Ağrı, Erzurum, Hakkari, Kars, Kastamonu, Muş, Van, Şırnak and Ardahan have been warned of heavy snowfall by issuing yellow and orange color codes.
