Today there is the joy of early release from prison. With the entry into force of the 11th Justice Package approved by the Turkish Grand National Assembly, more than 40 thousand prisoners will be released.
The release from prison began after the Law Amending the Turkish Penal Code No. 7571, Certain Laws and Decree Law No. 631, publicly known as the 11th Judicial Package, was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.
People hoping to welcome their released relatives have gathered in front of the prison since evening.
The convicts, having completed the necessary preparations and documents, were released.
This provision covers crimes committed on or before July 31, 2023. Convicts have the opportunity to be transferred to an open prison 3 years prior, and those in open prisons have the opportunity to be released on probation 3 years prior.
More than 40 thousand convicts are expected to be released in the first phase.
According to regulations, those who intentionally kill children, grandchildren, spouses, people who are unable to protect themselves physically or mentally, women and children will not be released. Those who commit sexual assault and child molestation will not benefit.
With the last-minute change, murders caused by the collapse or damage of buildings during an earthquake were also removed from the scope.

When they are released, we will have a better life. Well done to those who contributed. They reunited people with their families.” he said.
On the other hand, relatives of convicted people released from prison welcomed their loved ones by releasing white doves.
