The plane crash carrying the Libyan delegation
Issuing a statement regarding the crash of a private plane carrying a Libyan delegation on December 23, the Ministry announced that the incident was meticulously investigated with the cooperation of Libya.
Stating that search and rescue teams were dispatched when radar contact was lost, the ministry said: “The flight's black box was also found in the wreckage area and technical examination has been initiated.”
UAVS FOUND IN BALKESİR AND KOCAELI
The Ministry also made an assessment regarding the UAVs that crashed in Balıkesir and Kocaeli and said, “The UAVs that crashed in Balıkesir and Kocaeli are being examined. The results of the assessment will be shared with the public.” He issued a statement.
“THERE IS NO WEAKNESS IN AIR CONTROL”
Speaking about allegations of weakness in air control, the ministry said, “The drones that crashed in Balıkesir and Kocaeli are being examined. The results of the investigation will be shared with the public.” he said.
The following statements were used in the next part of the statement:
“Small, low-altitude drones with low radar cross-sections are a new generation threat not only for Türkiye but also for all countries, including European countries. When interfering with such targets, civil aviation traffic and life safety are considered the top priority and the most relevant factor will be put into action.
In short; The incidents in question reflect the increased use of UAVs due to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, rather than a weakness in air defenses. “Türkiye takes additional measures against UAVs, continuously enhances its air defense capabilities through national projects and allied cooperation, and continues to resolutely ensure the security of its airspace.”
THE INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN DIGGGING
The Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office also intensified further investigation into the accident.
The prosecutor's office requested a report from technical experts to determine whether the plane was airworthy. The responsibilities and possible errors of those performing final maintenance of the aircraft were brought into focus.
Camera recordings at the airport were confiscated. Radio conversations between the tower and the plane were included in the file.
