It was determined that Akın Adlığ, who was found dead in Denizli in 2006, was shot dead with a shotgun by Gökhan T. and Mehmet K., who were drinking together.
The murder that occurred 19 years ago in Denizli was solved by confession.
Akın Adlığ, a mentally retarded person from Süngüllü village in Çivril district, was found dead, shot with a hunting rifle, at the Kocaköprü site on June 10, 2006.
As a result of the investigation into Adlığ's death, a lawsuit was filed in 2008 against Gökhan T., one of the villagers who was 17 years old at the time of the incident.
As a result of the trial at Denizli High Criminal Court No. 2, Gökhan T. was acquitted in 2012, consistent with witness statements and tally records that he may have used the glasses found at the crime scene and that his DNA profile was determined at another time and that was at his workplace in Denizli on the day of the crime.
SPECIAL TEAM HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED
The file was reopened in 2024.
The special team formed in the Denizli Provincial Gendarmerie Command and the Çivril District Gendarmerie Command once again took the testimony of Mehmet K., who was 15 years old at the time and was named in the gendarmerie's intelligence report as a witness to the incident.
Mehmet K. claimed that Gökhan T. and Akın Adlığ invited him while they were drinking together and during the argument, Gökhan T. killed Adlığ with a rifle.
The task force investigated in depth and took statements from people in the village who had information about the incident.
During the investigation, it was established that Gökhan T. had pretended to be in Denizli on the day of the incident, with fake witness statements in the first trial and fake workplace inventory documents prepared by his uncle.
“WE WANT TO MAKE YOUR MONEY”
Based on the evidence obtained, Gökhan T. was again detained.
In his testimony, Gökhan T. initially denied the charges, but later confessed to the murder after evidence was presented.
Gökhan T. explained that people in the village gave money to Akın Adlığ because he was mentally disabled, and when they drank together, Mehmet K. asked the community to give them the money he collected after Friday prayers.
He admitted that when Adlığ did not accept this situation, an argument broke out between them, after which Mehmet K. gave him the rifle and asked him to scare him, and when he pointed the gun at Adlığ, the gun opened and death occurred in this way.
Proposal to increase the life sentence
An indictment was prepared against Gökhan T. and Mehmet K.
The indictment states that the defendants agreed in thought and action to take money from the victim's pocket with the intention of robbery.
In the indictment accepted by the court, the defendants requested an aggravated life sentence and up to 15 years in prison.
