
Habertürk TV channel editor-in-chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy was arrested.
The drug investigation involving the famous news anchor has been expanded.
Seven people, including Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy, were arrested by the gendarmerie.
DRUG OPERATIONS ON REFERRALS
Recently, gendarmerie squads in Istanbul carried out a drug operation targeting TV presenters. Notifiers ERC, MA and HS, who worked on various channels during the operation, testified at the prosecutor's office and were released after the proceedings.
MEHMET AKIF ERSOY LÀ AI?
Mehmet Akif Ersoy, born in Istanbul on January 8, 1985, graduated from the Faculty of Communication of Istanbul University. He started working as a reporter on Channel 6 News in 2009.
In 2011, he worked as a TRT representative and war correspondent in Libya, Yemen, Damascus and Erbil. He became TRT Cairo-Egypt Representative in 2012 and Deputy TRT Arabic Coordinator in 2013. He started working as TRT Istanbul Regional Deputy Director in 2014.
Ersoy became Editor-in-Chief of Foreign Policy Magazine in 2016. He started working at Habertürk in 2017. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of Habertürk TV since 2024.
