President Erdoğan: Karabakh is the pride of the Turkish world

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized permanent peace on the 5th anniversary of the Karabakh Victory. Erdoğan said that the Karabakh Victory changed the geopolitical balance in Asia and Europe.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the Victory Day Ceremony held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on the 5th anniversary of the historic victory of the Azerbaijani army in the 2nd Karabakh War.

Stating that today we celebrate the 5th anniversary of the glorious and epic victory that ended 30 years of occupation, Erdoğan paid tribute to the memory of all the martyrs who fell in the homeland war and the brave sons of Azerbaijan.

Erdoğan once again congratulated all members of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces who ended 30 years of occupation with a heroic struggle that cost them their lives.

President Erdoğan also congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the architect and leader of this great victory, and wished him continued success.

“THIS ENVIRONMENT OF PEACE AND TRUST WILL CONTINUE TO BE STRONG”

President Erdoğan continued as follows:

“The liberation of Karabakh is a source of great pride not only for Azerbaijan but also for the Turkish world. Every step of the Azerbaijani Army on Karabakh soil, every drop of blood shed for independence and dignity is written in golden letters in our common history as a badge of honor in the history of the Turkish world. Today, Azerbaijani soldiers are standing shoulder to shoulder with their military brothers from Türkiye. When looking at our soldiers, everyone We all understand what the slogan “two nations, one nation” means.” “We can see the flag of freedom rising high above the mixed blood of our martyrs flying in glory, honor and pride across Karabakh.”

“WE SEE THIS VICTORY AS A PASTOR ON THE WAY TO PERMANENT PEACE IN THE CAUCASUS”

Stating that the Karabakh Victory not only ended the great injustice that made the conscience bleed but also opened the door to a new era in the region, President Erdoğan said: “The homeland war also changed the geopolitical balance in Asia and Europe. We do not hold grudges nor allow us to experience the pain of the past again. Therefore, we consider this victory not as the end but as an important milestone on the path towards eternal peace.” in the Caucasus”. he said.

Stating that they consider that peace prevailing in the Caucasus will serve the interests of the entire region, from Asia to Europe, Erdoğan continued as follows:

“I want to emphasize this here; we are extremely hopeful and optimistic about lasting peace. We appreciate the sincere efforts of my brother Ilham Aliyev to establish lasting peace. We are also following the courageous steps of Armenian Prime Minister Mr. (Nikol) Pashinyan on this path. Hopefully, this great victory will lead to a lasting agreement that ensures peace and harmony in the region with a constructive attitude of “We are very proud of the progress Azerbaijan has made both in the region and beyond,” said both leaders. As Turkey, we will continue to do whatever we have to do on this issue.

ERDOĞAN MEETS ALIYEV AND THE POLICE

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Regional and global developments were discussed in the closed meeting. Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Defense Yaşar Güler and Director of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) İbrahim Kalın were also present at the meeting.

CELEBRATING THE 5TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VICTORY OF KARABAKH

The Azerbaijani army liberated Shusha, the symbolic city of Karabakh, from occupation five years ago. The Second Karabakh War, which began on September 27, 2020 with Shusha under Azerbaijani control, ended after 44 days.

The counterattack launched by Azerbaijan on September 27, 2020 lasted 44 days. 5 cities, 4 towns and 286 villages were liberated from occupation.

With the liberation of Shusha on November 8, 2020, Armenia accepted defeat.

The tripartite declaration to end the war between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia was signed on November 10, 2020.

Armenian troops also withdrew from Aghdam, Kalbajar and Lachin.

Although November 10 was declared Victory Day, because it coincided with the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, November 8, the day Shusha was liberated, was accepted as the official Victory Day.
