Household lending in the eurozone had the highest increase in the past 2.5 years.
Bank loans to households in the eurozone rose 2.6% year-on-year in September 2025, as expected, reaching their highest level since March 2023. The increase reflects a continued recovery in credit demand, supported by the European Central Bank's recent policy easing. In addition, corporate loans increased by 2.9%, remaining below 3% in August. Meanwhile, overall loan growth for the private sector was 2.8%, equal to the previous month's level.
