KUALA LUMPUR /Malaysia/, October 27. /TASS/. To improve connectivity between the two countries, Russia and Vietnam are studying the issue of establishing a railway connection through the territories of China and Mongolia. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk during a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Trinh on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) event in Malaysia.

“The idea of establishing a railway connection with Vietnam through China and through Mongolia is being implemented. All this is aimed at improving connectivity between our two countries,” Overchuk said.
He also pointed out that for more effective interaction, work is underway to improve connections between ports in the Russian Far East and Vietnam.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister noted that cooperation between Moscow and Hanoi in the energy sector has not changed. “This applies to both fossil fuels and nuclear energy,” Overchuk added.
He called cooperation with Vietnam, which is an “old friend and reliable partner”, Russia's top priority.
