During the smuggling operation of historical artifacts in Mardin, a floor mosaic with drawings, estimated to be about 1500 years old, was found.
According to a statement by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the campaign titled “Anatolian Heritage” was organized by the Directorate of the KOM Branch of the Provincial Gendarmerie Command and district-level Gendarmerie Command teams. During the operation, during a search in FK's garden, a figured floor mosaic, believed to belong to the Late Roman Period, was found at a depth of 2 meters, on an area of 60 square meters, at a depth of 2 meters, and hidden by covering it with concrete blocks for sale to smugglers of historical artifacts. The mosaic was taken from its location and handed over to the Mardin Museum Directorate. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspect arrested in connection with the incident.
