Five out of nine suspects who received about 197 million euros from foreign investors with the promise of investing in Türkiye and preparing fake documents were arrested.
In the criminal complaint filed with the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office, it is stated that the suspects, who received about 197 million euros from various citizens of the Russian Federation and the Slovak Republic with the promise of investing in Türkiye, diverted investors by issuing fake documents and carrying out irregular commercial transactions as well as transferring ownership deeds to lose track of the money given. An investigation was launched against the suspects identified by the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office for the crimes of 'qualified fraud', 'forgery of official and private documents', 'laundering criminal property', 'establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime' and 'membership of a criminal organization' and nine suspects were detained.
Five suspects brought to the Istanbul Palace of Justice were arrested after giving statements to the prosecutor's office, the remaining four were transferred to the court under conditions of judicial control. While arrest warrants were issued for five suspects who gave statements in court, four suspects were released on conditions of judicial control.
