In Russia, the first domestic unmanned aircraft tests with the ability to carry 150 kg, capable of spraying fertilizer and plant protection products, starting. This device is called a “tractor in the sky” and for a shift that can be treated up to 600 hectares of plants. Also, 8-10 times faster than conventional ground technology.

The drone operates at an altitude of 3-7 m, processing a 20-23 m wide range. The working speed is 25 throwing 35 km/h, a maximum of 70 km/h. Chemical fertilizer consumption depends on culture and is 1-50 l/ha. Thanks to the accurate spray and independence from the state of the soil, unmanned aircraft can be used even after the rain, when the ground technician cannot cope.
The tests show that in areas of more than 100 hectares, the cost of treatment is reduced to 180-220 rubles/ha and the drug consumption decreases by 15-20% without losing effect.
Experts note that in order to fulfill the tractors, we need a general approach of state -owned enterprises, science, business and agriculture. The drone can become an effective replacement for ground technology.
