With an artificial intelligence-enabled project called “AVCI”, 325 drug traffickers were arrested in Istanbul.
Istanbul Police Chief Selami Yıldız said: “With the development of new technology, organized crime organizations have moved to a cellular and flexible structure on digital platforms, i.e. a type of fragmentation and subcontracting of crime. We are determined to fight crime with both current legislative changes and new technological developments.” he said.
Cybersecurity expert Emre Çelikkol said, “These artificial intelligence agents are asked and taught what can be done in accordance with certain keywords and targets, and in this way they target purposeful access to the points where illegal groups are created on various WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook. After this access, they investigate whether those specified keywords exist or not. It investigates which profiles created them, whether illegal sales have taken place and forward the necessary reports to the necessary law enforcement units.” he said.
The police force affirms that parents have the most important responsibility to combat the dangers of drugs and crime in the digital world.
He emphasized that social networks and messaging groups to which children are members must be checked.
