The new prototype will make its first flight this year in the KAAN National Combat Aircraft project, which has come to light for the first time.
President of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün visited the facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), where the KAAN project is carried out.
During a visit to Görgün's hangar, the first prototype that made its first flight was displayed, as well as the new prototype expected to take to the skies this year.
The full-sized static prototype that will carry out KAAN's ground tests is also on display in the hangar where Görgün performs testing.
Speaking after the visit, Görgün said, “KAAN is not just an aircraft, it is a symbol of Türkiye's technical strength and will for independent defense.”
“IT WILL BE ONE OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS AIRCRAFT”
Haluk Görgün noted that the fact that the prototype, which made its first flight after the aircraft that will be used in the “full-size static” tests, left the hangar and was in the same frame as the second prototype that will make the next flight, represents an important technical stage and is a concrete indicator of the efforts of thousands of people.
Görgün claims that the KAAN will be one of the world's most outstanding fighter jets, from its speed to its stealth technology, electronic warfare capabilities and multi-mission capabilities.
“More than 300 COMPANIES IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN”
Görgün emphasized that KAAN is the success of a large ecosystem and continued his words as follows:
“KAAN's domestic supply chain today includes more than 300 companies and more than 5000 employees in more than 20 cities. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our engineers, technicians and stakeholders for their contributions. God bless their efforts. We will continue the testing, qualification and production process with the same determination in the coming period and we will gradually bring KAAN to our paradise homeland with more advanced capabilities in defense industry in the 21st century.”
