
TÜİK published population data of foreigners in Türkiye in 2025. Contrary to popular belief, there are more Turkmenistanis than Syrians in Türkiye.
FOREIGNERS ARE INCREASING
According to population data published by TÜİK, the foreign population residing in Türkiye increased by 38 thousand 968 people compared to the previous year and reached 1 million 519 thousand 515 people. 49.3% of this population are men and 50.7% are women.
THEY OVERCOMED THE SYRIANS
After the civil war in Syria, there was an intense migration of Syrians to Türkiye. With the restoration of balance in Syria after the long war, Syrians began to return to their country. Syrians are said to make up the largest number of foreigners residing in Türkiye. Developments and setbacks in Syria are starting to have an impact on the figures.
Foreign citizens residing in Türkiye are mostly from Turkmenistan. According to TÜİK data, there are 170 thousand 411 Turkmen people in Türkiye.
