Apple plans to introduce support for third-party AI services into its CarPlay car multimedia system control platform. According to MacRumors, the system will be able to integrate chatbots, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.

CarPlay currently supports third-party apps, but the app types are limited. After the update, users will be able to interact hands-free with car chatbots, but such apps will not have access to the car's or iPhone's control functions and will not replace Siri. To work with AI, users will need to run the appropriate application.
Support for third-party AI is expected to arrive in the coming months. This could coincide with the launch of an updated version of Siri in iOS 26.4, which will use a larger language model, answer complex questions, perform multi-step tasks, and search the Internet for information followed by a summary.
In the future, in iOS 27, Siri is expected to be added with full-fledged chatbot capabilities, which will increase competition with other AI services.
It was previously revealed that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will last “extremely long” on a single charge.
