WHEN DOES THE CENTRAL BANK DECIDE INTEREST RATE?
The January Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026. After the meeting, the interest rate decision will be announced at 14:00 on the same day as always.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF ECONOMISTS?
According to the CBRT Market Participant Survey, expectations for an increase in the consumer price index (CPI) by year-end have decreased from 23.35% to 23.23%. Total Central Bank reserves increased by 6 billion 985 million dollars in the week of January 9 compared to the previous week, reaching 196 billion 75 million dollars.
In January, CBRT's first meeting expectation for the policy rate was 36.5%, second meeting expectation was 35.11% and third meeting expectation was 33.80%.
Expect the policy interest rate in the next 12 months to decrease to 26.96%.
