In Eskişehir, thanks to the attention of a jeweler, a suspect was arrested while trying to buy 24-carat gold by giving 58.09 grams of fake bracelets with a market value of 343 thousand TL.
Özgen Ç., who arrived in Eskişehir from Istanbul yesterday morning, entered a jewelry store in Odunpazarı district. The suspect told the jewelers that he wanted to replace the fake bracelet weighing 58.09 grams with 24 grams of gold. Officials at the jewelry store calculated the grams of the bracelet and informed Özgen Ç. that they cost about 343 thousand TL. After post-examination, the jeweler's officials realized that the bracelet was fake.
He was released from prison some time ago
Faced with the suspect's attitude and understanding that the gold was fake, the suspect tried to convince the authorities by saying: “Keep these things. Let me call my nephew to talk to you, let him come here. This is my nephew's product. Please don't call the police.” After the incident, the authorities called the police and Özgen Ç. was handed over to the police. Özgen Ç., who was known to have been released from prison not long ago, was taken to the court after checking in at the police station.
Mehmet Akmeşe, who worked as a jeweler for 10 years, was involved in the incident; He explained how things developed. Stating that gold-looking jewelry can be a bit difficult to distinguish from the real thing, Akmeşe said: “From the hardness and color of the bracelet… The patent is actually made of very high quality. In other words, a friend who is new to this business might buy these bracelets thinking they are actually gold. But I guess God helped us at that time so we didn't get caught up in this.”
HE STAYED IN ISTANBUL
Describing the time he discovered fake gold, the jeweler said the suspect was in a hurry at that time and confirmed he did not call the police. Akmeşe, who learned about it Özgen Ç. actually resided in Istanbul after contacting police officers, raising the possibility that he did not come to Eskişehir alone. Akmeşe continued his speech as follows:
“I hope they don't leave anyone in a difficult situation. In other words, the average gram of gold is now 6 thousand 485.6 thousand 500 liras. In other words, if the scam friends change even the smallest gram, it will be 6 thousand 500 liras. That's a lot of money. That's why jewelry friends should be very careful and very sensitive about this matter. In my opinion, they should not buy such things. product they are not sure about and should definitely check the installation.”
