
Five defendants detained in a case filed with the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality alleging irregularities during the concert have been released.
There has been a new development in the unusual case regarding Ankara Metropolitan Municipality's concert expenses.
The court announced a provisional decision in the case with 14 defendants, including the former Director of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs of Ankara City, the Deputy Director of the Cultural Activities Branch and the owners of the organizing companies.
The five detained defendants were released with a ban on traveling abroad. On the other hand, the case was postponed until March 31.
According to MASAK investigations and reports, it is believed that the public lost 154.4 million lira in concert expenses carried out in 2021-2024.
CONCERT INVESTIGATION BACKGROUND
According to the deposit report issued by the Civil Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, MASAK examination, Court Accounts examination and expert reports within the scope of investigation by the Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that the authorities suffered a loss of 154 million 453 thousand 221.60 liras when purchasing 32 concert services at ABB.
As part of the investigation, 14 suspects, including former city officials and company officials, were arrested on September 23 on charges of “abuse of position” and “bid fraud.”
The suspects, who were brought to the Ankara Court after procedures at the police station, were transferred to the criminal justice of the peace after giving statements to the prosecutor conducting the investigation.
While five suspects were arrested by criminal justices of the peace for “embezzlement” and “fraudulent bids for public agencies or entities,” nine suspects were released on conditions of judicial control.
